OXI E16 FAQ
How many controls can I map on the E16?
Up to 192 per layout: 12 pages of 16 encoders. Each control can go to a different instrument, effect or parameter, and one encoder can drive several parameters at once. The LED rings and the OLED screen show where you are on every page.
Does the E16 work with Ableton Live and other DAWs?
Yes. Over USB it shows up as 3 virtual MIDI ports, and it sends CC, NRPN and 14-bit CC, relative or absolute, so you map it in your DAW like any MIDI controller. Set up scenes, pages and instrument definitions in the OXI App.
Does the E16 work with the OXI One?
Yes. Connect them over USB, TRS MIDI or Bluetooth MIDI, and the E16 becomes 16 hands-on knobs next to your sequencer.
Are the E16 encoders detented or smooth?
Smooth. The 16 encoders are non-detented, so they turn without clicks and values move continuously, which suits filter sweeps and slow fades. The LED rings show each value as you turn.
Does the E16 send CV?
No. It has 2 TRS MIDI outs and 1 TRS MIDI in (Type A), plus USB and Bluetooth MIDI. For Eurorack, put a MIDI to CV converter between the E16 and your modules.
Can it record and replay knob movements?
Yes. Knob Recording captures your gestures and plays them back. The Looper records synced automation in three modes, with 8 minutes of shared memory across 16 tracks. Snapshots store full scenes, and you can morph between them.
Can I script or customise how it behaves?
Yes. The Lua scripting API gives you custom logic, SysEx communication and script variables with long term storage. Build SysEx editors for your hardware, map their parameters and drop scripts onto encoders.
